Convention Team
New this year for dancers interested in conventions
(Must be a member of the mini or national company)

Convention team is for dancers interested in conventions that want to attend as a group. Nvs staff would attend the group conventions.
Competing at the convention is optional. The team will do 2 conventions together and then any additional conventions would be individual and optional

Fees would be entry fee to convention plus entry fees if competing, plus an annual convention team fee

Dancers with previous experience- attention to detail, patience, work ethic, passion for dance, eager to move at a fast pace, stretch, core strength, musicality, and movement, performance skills, and coachable - for the serious dance student
Classes in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical
Works through basic to intermediate level jazz technique, tap technique, continues through beginner ballet - barre and center floor, improv and movement exercises, stretch and balance control
Competes minimum of 2 group dances
- extra groups, duet/trios, solos available through audition
Travels to one regional, and one nationals
Competes 2 local regionals
2 days per week required/ 3rd/4th optional day

For both teams- understanding the proper basic skills of tap, ballet and jazz, previous dance experience or ability to pick up movement and skills at a quick pace
Classroom skills
Focus, eager to learn, work ethic, ability to pick up new skills at a faster pace
Pink team
1 hour class of tap/jazz and 1 hour class of ballet/lyrical
Blue team
1.5 hour class of tap/jazz
and 1 hour class of ballet/lyrical
Both teams will Compete one routine, learns other two for recital
Competes at beginner level
3 costumes for the year

Skills
Skipping, pushes up in backbend, touches toes to head, Chasse both feet, shuffle step, toe heel step
Classroom skills
Focus, takes turns, puts shoes on, follows directions, stays on spot, appropriate classroom behavior
This is what qualifies a dancer to be ready for this program
Class moves a bit faster, less games, focuses on basic dance training, competes one routine, learns one other routine for recital
One hour class a week working on basic skills in jazz, positions at barre, beginner center work in ballet, basic tap skills, musicality, movement and stretch
